In the states, most hotels give away a free copy of our newspaper called USA Today. It is pretty good – full color.

The reality is, it is very difficult to live frugally while traveling. Wish we had hostels over here.

My favourite tip is to eat vegetarian when you can. I’ve found it’s almost always cheaper, and is generally a good decision in ethnic restaurants.

If I’m travelling on business on my own, I often get a newspaper to read at the end of the day.
For 70p (approx $1.40) I get enough to read for a good part of the evening – it’s certainly better than a magazine.

I’ve seen paper laundry soap in Muji that I’ve always thought would be really good. Sadly I haven’t been on an extended trip since I discovered it.
