Can’t handle the truth?

I am still relatively new to the world of blogging – at least the technical side. I have been reading blogs for as long as they have been around, but only blogging for a relatively short time. The other night I was messing with my rss feed and getting some advice from other more experienced bloggers. The rss icon is the orange button in the upper right of this blog - for those of you who aren’t familiar, an rss feed allows a person to subscribe to the content of a particular blog. The posts are delivered directly to their computer or email so they can check to see if the blogger has posted recently without actually visting the site. People also use rss to quickly scan articles from many sources.
Anyway, when I logged in to my feedburner account, I was shocked to see that there were 40 rss subscribers to rocket finance! I had figured on a half dozen or ten at the most. My happiness at that number of subscribers immediately gave way to a sense of pressure – there were 40 people out there who thought my blog important enough to expect regular posts and quality content. I immediately wondered if I was up to the task.
The next morning, all of the pressure was off since four people had dropped rocket finance the day before. I think I might need to remove the feed counter. It makes me nervous. Especially when I see gaudy rss number such as this or this.
If you would like to subscribe, I promise that my posts will not normally contain this level of pathetic neurosis. . .

Don’t fret, doesn’t mean 4 people unsubscribed, just means that 4 less people actually read your feed that day. The number fluctuates daily as it’s calculated by the number of people that pull your feed, not the number of actual subscribers.
The higher the number gets the more it will fluctuate.

I think you’ll be surprised at how fast your feed count rises.
