A small slow down
December 15th, 2007 | by rocketc |in posting is underway. I have quite a few ideas for what I think are good posts, however I have begun working a few more hours at my part-time job. I make $19 an hour at my part-time job and about $.10 an hour at blogging. I plan to keep rocketfinance up and running. My goal is for a post a day, but sometimes I may only be able to pull off four or five posts a week.
I enjoy blogging a great deal. It is a chance to be creative, sharpen my wit, and increase my financial knowledge. Interactions with other bloggers is a big part of the fun in the blogosphere.
There was a time when I thought that rocketfinance would solve all of my financial problems. . . so far, that hasn’t happened so for now I will make the prudent personal finance choice: increase my hours at my part-time wood finishing job and decrease my personal finance blogging.
Tough choice. Not the fun choice, but the right choice for now.

Blogging doesn’t pay. If you have a part-time job that pays half decent $$ then you are better off doing that for money.
Post when you can, your readers will still be there.

Thanks for the advice.

I think you made a wise decision. Sometimes I find myself working on my blog ahead of freelance work or other projects I could be developing that lead directly to money. On a financial basis, it’s not worth it. Blogging doesn’t pay until you are one of the ‘big guys’, but I continue to do it because I enjoy it and I learn a lot as I go.

Funny, everybody thinks blogging is the way to make big bucks. I think I’m lucky if I make more than .50 cents an hour doing it.
Don’t do it for the money, blog because you love it.
