Friday Stack: packing to move edition

March 7th, 2008 | by rocketc |

It is getting a little crazy around the Rocket household as we prepare to move across the country at the end of the month. I am also anticipating a lot of good blog posts as we decide whether or not to rent out or sell our current home as well as decide to rent or purchase another home in our new location. Here are some things that I found interesting this week:

First, from Hustler, a list of ways to access your free credit report. I used credit.com and creditkarma. Both worked flawlessly - although it is important to remember that the creditkarma score is slightly inflated. The two scores that I got were over 40 points apart.

You may want to check out the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps project by the m-network. On outstanding collection of posts. I have not spent a great deal of time studying Ramsey, but I plan to learn more over the next year.

A brand new “wiki” has just been unveilded: Finwikian, the brainchild of Mrs. Micah. Join and edit the information on your favorite personal finance blogger. Don’t forget to stop by the rocket page!

Rocket Finance has also joined two other growing personal finance blogging communities: the Money Hackers Network and the Snowflake Revolution.

Have a great weekend and remember that most of the United States will be observing Daylight Savings Time and “springing ahead” this weekend.

We are in the early stages of preparing to move overseas at our house, and it leads to a lot of stress. Moving across town does, anyway, but across country or across the ocean seems to add to it. What do you do about health insurance in another country? How will the Dollar perform against the Euro? Rent or buy… and is buying even an option? Will our house here sell before we have to leave? Yikes. Plenty to think about! Good luck with YOUR move…

Good luck packing. I think it’s awesome that you’ve got this new job and the area where you’ve moving sounds beautiful. And remember…moves end. They really do. So while it may get awfully stressful, it’ll be over with. It doesn’t go on forever.

    Thanks for mentioning The Finwikian!
