A Product Review: Hotel

by Rocket Finance

During our recently completed move, we had the occasion to use two nationally known companies and I wanted to use this forum to share our experiences. I will not share the company names in my posts, but I am willing to share them privately or if you would like to guess the names of the businesses in the comment threads, I might confirm them at some point in the future. My goal is not to trash the brands that we used, but simply to demonstrate the importance of good customer service and how one negative experience can really hurt the bottom line. I will review our hotel today and tomorrow, our rental van.

The mid-point in our trip fell in Council Bluffs, Iowa and we used points to book lodging at a hotel of which I am a member of their rewards system. Our traveling party needed two rooms and I was able to book both of them using the rewards that we had accumulated. The check-in process was smooth and quick and they placed a plackard at the front desk with the names of the rewards members who were staying there that night. Kind of a cool touch – fed my ego a little bit.

The rooms were relatively clean and the crib and roll-a-way that we requested were right on time. I consider the hotel to be a mid-level chain – not the AmericInn, but definitely not Trump Taj Mahal – maybe two stars? The continental break fast was adequate and the coffee was very good. We had only one major problem during our stay: I was awakened at 5:30 am, not by noise, not by cold, not by a bright light, but because I was being bitten by a flea!

This is not a joke.

We do not plan to stay at the particular hotel in the future. Can you guess the chain?

I was going to guess Holiday Inn…but then I remembered that there are a million mid-level American hotel chains. And therefore I give up. Unless it was Holiday Inn.

I hope it wasn’t a LaQuinta Inn. They are my favorite chain – I love their breakfasts 🙂

Maybe a Days Inn??? I’ve had good and bad experiences with them. Same with Best Western???
