I had just about given up hope that Chase was ever going to revive its bonus coupons for checking accounts with direct deposit. Many of you have contacted me in hopes of finding a coupon over the past year, but I had not seen one since last April or May. Then, last week, we had one delivered to the house. The $100 bonus coupon was in a flyer that went out to everyone in our neighborhood.

Every, year, my wife and I open new Chase checking accounts in order to qualify for bonuses. The last couple of years, the bonuses were $125 apiece. An extra $250 is a nice way to start off the new year. We are still looking for a coupon for my wife, maybe one of our neighbors still has one . . .

Chase allows customers to redeem one coupon every calendar year. It is kind of a pain to change our direct deposit and close the other accounts, but the bonus is worth it. I don’t have any coupon codes to give away to any readers, but thought all of you might want to know that this particular bonus is still alive!

I am a big fan of ING Direct. They have a great interface – all of my kids have Orange Savings accounts. Their security is above average, customer service is outstanding, and I think their graphics design and colors are the best in the business. Frankly, I will always have a little money at ING because I think they are the most reliable online bank. Last year, ING purchased NetBank and Sharebuilder. They are one of the largest banks in the world and on their way to becoming a banking superpower.

But their current savings rate is an anemic 4.10% APY. Most of my money is earning 5.05% at FNBO. If ING, ever gets in the ballpark, I’ll be back.

Still, the main reason ING is my favorite bank at the moment because you can visit an ING cafe in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago or Wilmington, DE for get a free cup of coffee with this coupon. We are looking forward to visiting the Chicago location as soon as we can for a cup-a-joe and to ask them to raise their interest rate.

The Hustler continues to amaze in his pursuit of free money. Last week, he made us aware of a $50 bonus from Lending Club - without any lending required – this is a much easier bonus to earn than the usual bank account bonus that requires direct deposit. I don’t think there is a credit check required in order to qualify for this bonus. I opened an account with Lending Club and I am working on getting my wife enrolled in order to double our money. A $1,000 deposit is required

Today, he posted a $100 bonus from OptionsXpress. It is unclear as to whether you must execute a trade in order to qualify for the bonus, so YMMV, but the worst you can do is lose the cost of making a trade. Be sure you read Hustler’s entire post before opening the account.

The last bonus is from me: I just received a coupon in the mail for a $125 bonus from Chase after you open a new checking account with direct deposit. I have given out four of these referrals over the last four months and I stacked all of them with a $25 referral coupon. However, only one person used the $25 referral coupon when they opened their account. I came across this link last night for a $75 bonus when you open a Chase checking account with direct deposit. I usually deposit $5 or $25 a month from my paypal or ING account. Works every time.

Chase is also offering a $50 bonus after your first purchase with the Chase Freedom Visa Card that gives you 3% cash back on many purchases. My wife and I have $125 sitting in our cash back accounts right now. If we wait to accumulate $200 in cash back before requesting our checks, Chase will kick in an extra $50 for total cash back of $250.
